Terry Meets "Davy Crockett"!

On March 6, 2004, the 168th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo, Terry had the privelege of  meeting Fess Parker, star of Walt Disney's classic DAVY CROCKETT films. Here Fess signs an autograph, and accepts an inscribed copy of  "The Alamo Sourcebook".

Background and Experience

Terry Todish has been a reenactor and historian for over thirty years, specializing in the eras of the French and Indian War, the American War of Independence, the War of 1812, and the Texas Revolution. He has served as an event coordinator at many events, and narrated demonstrations for the public at Alamo Plaza, Ft. Niagara, Ft. Michilimackinac, Ft. Ticonderoga, and many other events and sites. He developed a participant costume guide for the annual Ft. Michilimackinac Pageant, is a long time board member and newsletter editor for the Michilimackinac Voyageurs muzzleloading gun club, and a founding member of the West Michigan Living History and Educational Association.

As Drillmaster of Jaeger's Battalion of Rogers' Rangers Terry is the staff officer responsible for helping independent companies become proficient in French and Indian War era drill. He worked as an advisor on a project that developed a training booklet, video, and CD ROM for training recruits in the 1757 Manual Exercise.

Terry portrayed the ill-fated Captain Donald Campbell in the award winning History Channel Series FRONTIER: Legends of the Old Northwest. He also was a historical consultant on the series, named Best Documentary Film of 1998 by the Western Writers of America. His duties included working on script development and rewrites, recruiting and coordinating reenactor extras, and working "on set" in a number of capacities.

On Michael Mann's popular film adaptation of LAST OF THE MOHICANS Terry worked as a historical consultant and reenactor recruiter.

Terry holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and has worked as a museum curator and editor of a monthly living history newspaper. The Alamo Sourcebook, which he coauthored, is used extensively by schools in Texas, and has been cited as a source by numerous other Alamo authors.
